Just a quick update. Everything looks good baby wise... no complaints about that and we've passed the first trimester so we've made it further than we've ever made it before. The Hyperemesis is awful. I've never felt so sick or awful in all my life- and I honestly would not wish this disease on my worst enemy. I've lost about 20 lbs as of today and I'm not real happy about it. I am using a home nurse care company that checks in on me daily and makes sure we are getting better and not worse. My husband is an amazing man, he has altered his entire life schedule to take care of me, make sure I have food when I am able to eat and has taken on all the chores and errands. I don't know how he does it all- and we've also had great neighbors who call when they are at the store and pick things up for us. Very helpful. It's very telling how unimportant things become when you have so little time or energy to spend on them and how much we value what we do have time and energy to attend to. Somehow, life got simpler and whether it's because I can't run about at my natural sprint pace or not seems so unimportant to us and were enjoying the slower lifestyle.

Glad things are going well in there, although I do hope the vomiting eases soon.

Ellie,

I suffered with the HG through four pregnancies, and have written a comprehensive book on HG treatment called "Beyond Morning Sickness: Battling Hyperemesis Gravidarum." If you're interested in a free copy, please write me at ashli@beyondmorningsickness.com (you can read more about the book at www.beyondmorningsickness.com).

Best of luck,

I'm so sorry that you're sick but extremely happy that your pregnant and now through your first trimester. Amazing how this all worked out. I hope somehow the next 2 trimesters go quickly and you have a healthy baby in your arms and the memories of this illness fade quickly. I think of you often Ellie. Please update when you can.

You're too kind to spend some of that energy on updating here, though it is much appreciated.

I hope the HG relents.

I used to read your blog from time to time but hadn't checked lately. One, congrats on your pregnancy - that is great! Two, I also had HG, and it BLOWS. I hope yours eases up. Mine was horrible from 6 weeks to about 16 weeks, then gradually got better, disappearing entirely by 27 weeks. I hope yours goes away, too. I sure don't miss that Zofr.an constipation!

Also, you've probably already checked this out, but there is an HG forum: http://www.hyperemesis.org/index.php. It is great for info and support.

congrats for making it through the first trimester. Will the puking end soon like a normal morning sickness? Mine ended around week 14 although I had the much milder kind. Sorry that you have been so sick. Not fun even if you are overjoyed about your pregnancy.
So happy for you!

Okay, I'm an idiot. For some reason every time I checked your blog, it showed that the last post was December. So please disregard the comment I just left, wondering where/how you were. I can now SEE how you are! Sending you a huge congratulations and looking forward to months of wonderful news from you!

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Having finally managed to have a beautiful baby girl after 5 years, I totally understand the mixed feelings about vomitting.

There's an anonymous survey on infertility at (copy and paste):

You can see the statistics once complete and it only takes a minute.

Good luck!
